Week 4: 2D Rings

Image
For this weeks assignment, we created 10 rings. Using 2D lines and extruding in Rhino, we were able to build upon our current knowledge to create an object to scale.

Week 3: Mashup Rendering

During my p2p critique, my partner and I were able to narrow down my designs to two, my “Duck Tank” and “Bunny Scooter”. I liked them about the same amount, however we both noticed that the “Bunny Scooter” would have more individual parts to render. In addition, upon closer inspection, the helmet my bunny was wearing clipped through the head, and so using the explode function, I managed to remove the unnatural parts.  Sources: Rabbit by LaenorSama - Thingiverse Thing files for Halo Helmet by big_red_frog - Thingiverse Thingiverse - Digital Designs for Physical Objects - Thingiverse *New* https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5580366/files      The “Bunny Scooter”, contributes to remix culture by not only combining different models, it also combines ideas. It was composed of taking others' original figures, and “remixing” them together to create something new. Week 2: The Remixed Object

When referring to "Remix" in the case of art, the idea can be applied to a variety of things. Music, objects, photos, and ideas, can all be "Remixed" together in order to create something new. Remix, in a general sense, is when an artist takes two or more objects that already exist, and combine them to create something new. Almost all remixes border the line of intellectual property, and to this day it's still hard to distinguish who the finished product belongs to.  The idea of remixing objects together came around with the age of read/write culture. When artists stopped simply "reading" others art, but taking that and "writing" or responding to it with more art.       For this weeks assignment, I've taken these principals and combined several 3D objects created by others to create a new image.  Thing files for Gizo the Spider (Keychain for backpack) by Retrorobot - Thingiverse Thing files for Printable Boot by clubclay - Thingive...

Week 1: The Meaningful Object

Image
In response to the documentary "Objectified" I decided to 3d model both the record player (as part of the class demo) and a chair. During the documentary, Erwan Bouroullec and Ronan Bouroullec discuss how they made the perfect chair for Australians who just want to plonk down after a couple beers. Inspired to make my own chair, I decided to made a classic wooden one, that would probably be cheap, or perhaps a chair used in a restaurant.
